Description

Shanklin is a picturesque seaside town on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, known for its stunning beaches, charming old village, and beautiful coastal scenery. It’s a popular destination for visitors seeking a mix of relaxation, history, and outdoor activities.

Key Attractions and Features:

  1. Shanklin Beach - A long, sandy beach with safe, shallow waters, perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. The beach is lined with traditional beach huts, cafes, and seaside attractions, creating a classic British seaside atmosphere. There’s also a lovely promenade where you can take a leisurely stroll along the coastline.
  2. Shanklin Chine - One of the town’s most famous attractions, Shanklin Chine is a natural gorge with lush greenery, waterfalls, and winding pathways. It’s the oldest tourist attraction on the Isle of Wight, known for its serene beauty and historical significance. In the evenings, the chine is lit up, creating a magical atmosphere.
  3. Shanklin Old Village - A must-see for visitors, the Old Village is filled with quaint, thatched-roof cottages, tea rooms, and boutique shops. The streets are lined with charming pubs and cafes where you can relax and enjoy local food and drinks. The area has a timeless feel, with plenty of character and a warm, welcoming vibe.
  4. Rylstone Gardens - Located near the Old Village, these beautifully manicured gardens offer a peaceful retreat with stunning views over the coastline. It’s a great spot for a picnic, and during the summer months, you can often catch live music performances at the bandstand.
  5. Coastal Walks - Shanklin is part of the scenic coastal path that runs along the island, making it an excellent base for walkers. The path from Shanklin to Sandown is particularly popular, offering lovely sea views and access to smaller coves along the way.

With its blend of natural beauty, historic charm, and modern amenities, Shanklin is a delightful destination for anyone visiting the Isle of Wight. Whether you’re looking to relax on the beach, explore lush green spaces, or soak in the local culture, Shanklin has something for everyone.

5 star stay at the island retreat. We enjoyed a weeks stay here and loved it. The caravan held more than the essential things, including a coffee machine, air fryer and TV. The oil heaters kept the caravan warm whilst we were out, so the caravan was always nice and cosy for us on return from days out. The caravan was clean and tidy and an easy check in and check out system. We also thought the welcome pack was a fab idea as we hadn’t yet done a food shop before we arrived so it was nice to have a hot brew after a long journey. There was so many things to do in the area in general but most importantly activities and walks were dog friendly so our gorgeous pup Ronnie enjoyed his holidays too. We could have definitely had another week here, we will be booking again.

5-Star Review for Isle of Wight Stays in SandownWe had an absolutely fantastic stay at the Isle of Wight Stays caravan in Sandown! From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home. The caravan was spotless, well-equipped, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beautiful Sandown Beach and close to the island’s main attractions – it made exploring so easy and enjoyable. We especially loved the outdoor deck area, which was ideal for enjoying our morning coffee or a quiet evening. The hosts were wonderful too – responsive, friendly, and thoughtful, even leaving a lovely welcome pack with some local treats! It’s a perfect spot for families, couples, or anyone looking to unwind by the sea. We’re already looking forward to booking our next stay. Highly recommend Isle of Wight Stays for a memorable, stress-free getaway! 🌊🌞
