Brading Roman Villa
Brading Roman Villa
Brading Roman Villa is one of the best-preserved Roman sites in the UK, offering a detailed insight into life on the island nearly 2,000 years ago. The villa was once the home of a wealthy Roman family and features some of the finest mosaics in Britain.
The award-winning visitor centre covers the main villa site with walkways that allow close-up views of the mosaics, which depict myths, animals, and intricate patterns. Interactive displays and artefacts explain Roman life, trade, and farming on the Isle of Wight.
The site also includes gardens planted with herbs and flowers once used by the Romans, a café serving local produce, and a shop with themed gifts. Events, talks, and family activities run throughout the year, making it engaging for both adults and children.
Opening times: Daily, 10am to 4pm year-round (longer hours in summer).
Nearby attractions: Bembridge Windmill, Culver Down, and Adgestone Vineyard.
