Description

The Model Village in Godshill is a charming and meticulously crafted attraction on the Isle of Wight that delights visitors of all ages. Located in the heart of the picturesque village of Godshill, this miniature world replicates the island’s quaint cottages, historic buildings, and beautiful gardens, all on a smaller scale. The Model Village is not just a display of craftsmanship but also a nostalgic journey that captures the essence of an idyllic English village, making it one of the most beloved attractions on the island.

Key Features of the Model Village in Godshill:

  1. Miniature Version of Godshill and Shanklin - The main highlight of the Model Village is its detailed recreation of Godshill and parts of Shanklin, two of the Isle of Wight's most picturesque villages. Each building is a perfect miniature replica, crafted to look exactly like the originals, down to the tiniest detail. From the charming thatched cottages of Godshill to the shops, pubs, and even the iconic church, visitors can explore the villages as if they were giants walking through a tiny world.
  2. Beautifully Landscaped Gardens - The miniature buildings are set within exquisitely landscaped gardens that are just as much a feature as the models themselves. With tiny trees, blooming flowers, and perfectly pruned hedges, the gardens mirror the look of a traditional English village in full bloom. Visitors can enjoy wandering along the winding paths, admiring the colorful displays and the meticulous attention to detail.
  3. Intricate Detail and Craftsmanship - Each building in the Model Village is handcrafted by skilled artisans, who have paid great attention to detail to ensure that every window, door, and rooftop is accurate. The craftsmanship extends to the interiors, with some buildings having tiny furnishings visible through the windows. The level of detail is astonishing, making the village a feast for the eyes and a marvel of miniature engineering.
  4. Tiny Figures and Village Life - To bring the model to life, the village is populated with tiny figurines of people, animals, and vehicles, all engaged in daily activities. Visitors can spot miniature gardeners tending to their plants, shoppers walking through the streets, and even tiny pets lounging in the gardens. These scenes add a sense of realism and charm, making it easy to imagine what life is like in the model world.
  5. A Look Back in Time - The Model Village captures a snapshot of a bygone era, reflecting the architecture and lifestyle of the mid-20th century. It offers a nostalgic glimpse into the past, with quaint shops, traditional pubs, and other features that showcase the simple pleasures of village life. This sense of nostalgia is part of what makes the attraction so special, as it brings visitors back to a simpler time.
  6. Godshill Church and the Hilltop View - One of the standout features of the Model Village is its replica of Godshill Church, complete with its iconic location on a hill. Just like in the real village, the model church is set on a raised section, allowing visitors to see a tiny version of the beautiful, historic building that overlooks the rest of the village. The inclusion of this church adds authenticity to the miniature scene, reflecting Godshill's real layout.
  7. Interactive Elements and Fun for Kids - The Model Village includes interactive elements that make it engaging for children as well as adults. Kids can find hidden figures, play with tiny trains, and enjoy spotting all the little details scattered throughout the village. It’s a fun way for families to explore together, as there’s always something new to discover around each corner.
  8. Tea Room and Gift Shop - After exploring the Model Village, visitors can relax at the on-site tea room, which serves a selection of traditional English refreshments, including cream teas, cakes, and sandwiches. The gift shop offers a range of souvenirs, including miniature models, garden ornaments, and other keepsakes to remind visitors of their time at this charming attraction.

5 star stay at the island retreat. We enjoyed a weeks stay here and loved it. The caravan held more than the essential things, including a coffee machine, air fryer and TV. The oil heaters kept the caravan warm whilst we were out, so the caravan was always nice and cosy for us on return from days out. The caravan was clean and tidy and an easy check in and check out system. We also thought the welcome pack was a fab idea as we hadn’t yet done a food shop before we arrived so it was nice to have a hot brew after a long journey. There was so many things to do in the area in general but most importantly activities and walks were dog friendly so our gorgeous pup Ronnie enjoyed his holidays too. We could have definitely had another week here, we will be booking again.

The caravan was spotless, well-equipped, and very comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location is perfect, just a short walk to the beautiful Sandown Beach and close to the island’s main attractions – it made exploring so easy and enjoyable. We especially loved the outdoor deck area, which was ideal for enjoying our morning coffee or a quiet evening. The hosts were wonderful too – responsive, friendly, and thoughtful, even leaving a lovely welcome pack with some local treats! It’s a perfect spot for families, couples, or anyone looking to unwind by the sea.
